Welcome to the Attorney General's Office and the Ministry of Justice and Legal Affairs of the Government of St. Kitts and Nevis. As the principal arm responsible for the administration of justice and legal services, the Ministry is committed to upholding the rule of law, ensuring access to justice, and supporting the efficient operation of the legal and judicial systems. Through our departments and affiliated agencies, we work to promote fairness, transparency, and accountability in governance and public affairs. The High Court Registry

To serve the Federation of St. Christopher and Nevis by providing access to a dependable, accountable and independent system of justice that is administered by officers in a prompt, effective, efficient and fair manner.

The Magistrates Department

It can be described as a summary court and also as a lower court. As such it exercises jurisdiction in cases of less serious criminal matters and civil matters within a limited monetary value range.

Land Registry

To provide prompt, efficient and customer friendly land registration and information services by leveraging technological advancement in order to guarantee and protect property rights in St. Kitts and Nevis. 

Intellectual Property Office

To promote national prosperity by encouraging the creation and protection of intellectual property through public education and the continuous development and administration of a strong, user-friendly, efficient and dynamic IP protection framework.

Legal Aid & Advice

A Department within the Ministry of Justice and Legal Affairs. We were established by the Government of St. Kitts-Nevis for the purpose of providing low cost legal services and representation to persons of low income.

Law Commission

By studying and keeping under constant review the statutes and other laws of St. Christopher and Nevis with a view to making recommendations for their improvement, modernization and reformed.

The Ombudsman

The Office of the Ombudsman + Information Commission is established for the purpose of protecting and enforcing the rights of citizens employed in the Government of St. Kitts and Nevis.

The Attorney General's Office

The Attorney General's Office is chiefly responsible for providing legal counsel and advice to the Executive Branch of the Government of St. Kitts and Nevis. The functioning of the Office is rooted in the Constitution and is further detailed by the provisions of the Attorney General’s Act Cap 3.02 of the laws of the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis.

One of the more prolific manifestations of the advisory functions of the Office of the Attorney General is its contribution to the legislative agenda of the government. As such, the responsibility of preparation of all legislation: from conceptualization to the presentation of Bills and the crafting of Regulations falls within the purview of the office.
