Welcome to the Ministry of Legal Affairs
The Office of the Attorney General is eager to serve you and all stakeholders in our nation in general in keeping with our mandate as prescribed in the Constitution of St. Kitts and Nevis, the Attorney General’s Act and other laws of the Federation. This office plays a significant role in the administration of Justice. As such, the Attorney General’s Chambers contributes to the maintenance of the rule of law in the Federation.
In accordance with Section 64 of the Constitution of St. Kitts and Nevis, the Attorney General is the principal legal adviser to the Government of St. Christopher and Nevis and is responsible for advising the various government ministries and institutions

Office of the Attorney General
The Office of the Attorney General serves as the principal legal advisor to the Government of St. Kitts and Nevis. It is responsible for upholding the rule of law, ensuring that government actions are legally sound, and representing the state in legal matters.

High Court Registry
The superior court of record, handling major civil and criminal cases & interpreting constitutional matters.

Magistrate's Court Registry
Presides over summary matters, minor offenses, & preliminary inquiries and ensures swift justice.

Land Registry
Maintains official records of land ownership and transactions to secure property rights & development.

Intellectual Property
Protects the rights of creators and innovators by registering trademarks, patents, & other intellectual property.

Legal Aid & Advice
Provides free or subsidized legal services to individuals who are unable to afford private legal representation.

Law Commission
Reviews, modernizes, and recommends updates to existing laws and recommends updates to improve legal clarity.

The Ombudsman
Serves as an independent and impartial authority that investigates complaints from the public.
